How Mule Shipping Container Delivery Compares

Mule vs. Flatbed Delivery

Mule-Assisted Delivery

  • Works in tight/narrow spaces
  • Precise, inch-level placement
  • Sharper 90° turns, lower clearance
  • Gentler on lawns/driveways

Traditional Flatbed/Roll-off Delivery

  • Needs long, straight access (≈75′ for 20′, ≈120′ for 40′)
  • Firm, truck-rated surface only
  • Wider turns; height/overhead limits
  • Container tilts & slides off

Traditional and more common flatbed deliveries are only efficient if you have a long, solid, straight lawn or driveway. These delivery methods and trucks require a larger clearance to deliver your container. They typically need 75′ of space for 10’/20’ containers and 120′ for 40’ long shipping containers. They also need about a 12′ wide and about 13′ 6″–16′ height clearance during tip. These heavy-duty truck deliveries tilt your cargo container to offload them and can exceed 45,000 lbs, requiring a firm terrain. They also need to be clear of power lines and tree branches, which can make placing your container where you want impossible. Flatbed deliveries are limited by their turning radius, overhead obstacles, and the need to tilt the container off the bed.

Our mule forklift decouples during your container delivery and unloads your container from the truck, keeping it mostly leveled. After, we easily move the container on specialized dollies and steer it around your property, through tight gates, alleys, trees, and parked vehicles. We can angle the container exactly where you want it, often inches from a wall or inside a fenced area. Your shipping container will be placed and leveled exactly where you want it, without you having to move everything out of our way. Our mule container delivery service is perfect for precise deliveries in tight places.

Delivery & Clearance requirements

Our mule shipping container delivery requires far less straight-line space than traditional flatbed or roll-off methods. Using compact mule forklifts and dollies, we navigate various driveways and properties, making tight turns and avoiding most overhead obstacles. Steep slopes can make deliveries go slightly slower, but we’re still able to easily maneuver on unleveled land. Seasonal conditions matter too: if the ground is too soft from rain, snow, or ice, we’ll coordinate a convenient reschedule. To speed things up, you can always contact us to confirm if your ideal placement is feasible. However, we’ll more than likely be able to deliver and place your container wherever you want it.

Precise Placement

Our mule delivery excels in tight spaces. We can guide your container through side yards, alleys, or behind buildings, steering around trees, fences, AC units, and other obstacles with inch-level precision. For container delivery, that means your container can be placed right next to your equipment or building, where you can easily access your storage or container office daily. And we’ll set the door orientation for smooth loading from day one.

Shipping Container Leveling

After placement, we level your container so your doors can open and latch smoothly, and water sheds properly. You can supply your own blocks, or add our pro leveling blocks to the order for a clean, long-lasting setup. Leveling adjustments and a quick final check are included with the delivery of your shipping container to ensure it’s ready to use.

FAQ On Shipping Container Delivery

How to prepare for shipping container delivery?
  1. Pick the spot: Choose a firm, fairly level area (gravel, asphalt, or concrete preferred).
  2. Measure access: Standard gates/driveways usually work. Clear a path and check for low branches or power lines.
  3. Mark the placement: Put cones/flags/paint where you want the corners and note door orientation (see below).
  4. Share photos: Text or upload pictures of the driveway, gate, and drop spot so we can pre-check.

Our mule device lets us handle tight turns and narrow access others can’t, but safe overhead clearance and a stable surface are still important.

Do I need to be present for the delivery of my shipping container?
It’s not required, but recommended. If you can’t be there, we can deliver with your written placement notes. Mark the spot with cones or tape, and share other placement details. We’ll text you a photo confirmation once your shipping container is set.
Is delivery included when buying a shipping container ?
No. The cost of delivery is an additional charge on top of the cost of the shipping container.
Will delivery damage my lawn/driveway?
We use mule equipment for precise, ground-level placement that minimizes impact on your land and driveway. Driveways are typically safe, and lawns may show light tire impressions, especially after rain.
How do I choose door orientation and exact placement?

Decide which way you want to load and access the container, then choose doors facing the most convenient side toward your driveway, shop, or the area you’ll use most.

How long does delivery take once I order?
Most orders are scheduled within a few business days. You’ll receive a delivery window and a courtesy call or text the day of your shipping container delivery. If you have a deadline, tell us and we’ll try to prioritize your delivery.
